USHUAIA INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL – Tierra del Fuego – Patagonia, Argentina
The 5th edition of the Ushuaia International Festival will be taking place from April 25th to May 9th, 2009.
The artistic level is once again superlative with the participation of the world famous MOSCOW SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA (MSO) from Russia. One of the most high qualified orchestras with an outstanding artistic level, conducted by Maestro JORGE ULIARTE.
Totally, 15 concerts will be held in the wonderful concert hall of the „5-Star-Hotel Las Hayas“ www.lashayas.com, where 700 concert visitors may enjoy the wonderful concerts in the elegant hall „Salon Milenio“, which offers an overwhelming view to the southatlantic sea and the red coloured trees of Tierra del Fuego, during the concerts.
The MOSCOW SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA will play the most beautiful symphonies of russian composers, like Rachmaninov, Tschaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, as well you may listen to Dvorak, Bruch and other famous composers. For more details, please look at our part „program“ of this website.
Apart from the MOSCOW SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA, there will be participating prestigious groups like the winners of the „International Schubert-Competition“ of the „University of Music and Dramatic Arts“ – Graz / Austria, Stefan Hempel from Germany and Daniel Seroussi from Israel, the LAS HAYAS QUARTETT with high talented musicians from Buenos Aires, the BALLET of USHUAIA with about 30 dancers, who will perform the „nutcracker suite“ from Tschaikovsky, under the artistic directors: Estela Eermann (Moscow-Paris-Buenos Aires) and Tetyana Kobzeva.
Highly skilled soloists will participate at the Festival, like VITALY PISARENKO (piano, Moscow), GÖTZ BERNAU (Concertino of the Berlin Symphonic Orchestra) MIRTA HERRERA (piano, Argentina/Italy), STANIMIR TODOROV (Bulgaria, first cellist of the Monte Carlo Symphony Orchestra), IVAN RUTKAUSKAS (piano, Argentina), CHRISTINE MARIA HÖLLER (violin, Austria), ALBERTO PORTUGHEIS (piano, London), GORAN FILIPEC (piano, Croacia) , KATIA BORRISOVA (pianist and voice coach of the MOZARTEUM SALZBURG) with the opera singers: André Schuen and Veronika Haller from Italy and Lazarina Borissova from Austria. Also XAVIER INCHAUSTI (violín, Argentina) and SILVIA IRIONDO (soprano, Buenos Aires) will give concerts during the festival.
The MOSCOW SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA will be conducted by Maestro JORGE ULIARTE (Argentina/Austria), co-founder of the Festival, Artistic Director and Orchestra Conductor of the Berlin Symphonic Orchestra. As in the last edition, the high talented PABLO DZODAN from Buenos Aires/Argentina will participate as guest conductor.

The Ushuaia International Festival is under the auspices of very important international institutions like the Government of the City of Salzburg (Austria), the Province of Salzburg (Austria), the Embassy of Austria, the Embassy of Russia, the Embassy of Croacia, The Embassy of Germany, University of Arts Graz (Austria) and the General Direction of the Antarctic taking part in the events that Argentina will present in the International Polar Year (2007/2008). As well the Festival is under protection of the Government of Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego and the President of Argentina.
