WOLFGANG BRAND
Violin

Wolfgang Brand, first violinist of the "Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra", was born in Vöcklabruck, Austria on February 25th, 1948. He began his violin studies in 1955 in his city until 1966. From then onwards he continued his studies in the Hochschule Für Musik of Vienna with G. Pichler (A. Bergquartett) and Franz Samohyl as his teachers. He attended soloist courses with H. Szeryng in Geneva in 1970 and international courses in 1972. He was "Konzertmeister" (Concertino) in the Raimund Theater/Vienna in 1972 and 1973. In 1974 he won the contest for the first violin of the Philharmonic Orchestra/Vienna, and was member of the Wiener Streichersolisten from 1974 to 1994, which allowed him to perform in over 300 concerts in different countries of the world. Since 1997 he plays in the Philharmonia Trio Wien. He performed concerts as a soloist in cities such as Tokio, Osaka, Nagoya, Salzburg, Wiesbaden, München, Berlin, Heidelberg, Mexico, Cuernavaca, Guanajuato, Wien, Linz.



DR. JUTTA UNKART SEIFERT
Soprano

She took singing lessons with Prof. Ingeborg Wamser-Holm and "Lied" singing with Prof. Eric Werba (Hochschule Für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien). She performed numerous “Lied” concerts accompanied by Eric Werba, Herbert Kaliga, Yasuko Mitsui, Norman Shetler, David Lutz, Kurt Rapf in Italy, Yugoslavia, Poland, Bulgaria, Austria, Prague (Prague Spring 1988), Gewandhaus Leipzig, Schauspielhaus Berlin, Oman, Moscow, Budapest, Theater am Kornmarkt Bregenz, Sweden.
She performed concerts in Japan and since 1990, concerts with Orchestras (Mahler, Richard Strauss, Wagner) in Germany, Austria, Rumania, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland. She began her career in Opera with main roles in Tosca, Turandot, Salomé, Electra. Critics consider Jutta Unkart-Seifert as "a highly dramatic expression scale with metallic tone and “as a beautiful and voluminous voice, balanced in all situations, a voice shaped with perfect diction”, as well as “an intimate expressivity and delicate pianos”. Due to her great voice volume and her expression talents, the singer is focused on “Lied” because of a style that points out drama, which finds a perfect art reflex specially in Hugo Wolf and Richard Strauss.



LUCA MONTI
Piano

He was born in Terni (Italy) in 1966. He won numerous international Contests such as Beethovenwettbewerb in Vienna, Austria (1989 and 1993), Senigallia, Terni "Casagrande", Lucca "F. Liszt", Cantú, Rome ARAM. He played solo concerts of Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Mozart, Franck, Rachmaninoff, Schumann and Nyman with orchestras such as the NÖ Tonkünstlerorchester of Vienna, Orchesterverein of Vienna, Amadeus Ensemble of Vienna, Pro Music Orchestra of Salzburg, San Remo Symphonic Orchestra, Byalystok Orchestra (Poland), Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra (Croatia), F. Ferrara Orchestra and Umbria Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Isaak Karabtchewsky, Walter Kobera, Jost Meier, Federico Mondelci, Robert Zelzer, Ottavio Zino and Marco Gatti. He has performed in all Europe, America, Asia and Australia; he has been invited to prestigious festivals such as Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Brucknerhaus Linz, Musikhalle Hamburg, Ghione Theatre Rome, Erbe Milano Theatre, Ansermet Saal Ginevra, New York Concert Hall, Izumi Hall Osaka, Casals Hall Tokyo, Menton, Dubrovnik, Divonne. His interest for Chamber music led him to form the Ison Trio Wien with which he won the Prize of the International Chamber Music Contest "Johannes Brahms" of Pörtschach, Austria. Luca Monti regularly works with the soloists Julian Rachlin, Lydia Baich, Alexandra Soumm, Christoph Stradner, Thomas Carrol, Christine-Maria Höller, Orfeo Mandozzi, Eszter Haffner and with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Symphonic Orchestra and with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.



TEODORA MITEVA
Violoncello

She was born in Russe, Bulgaria, in 1976. She began her music lessons at the age of four, learning violin with her mother and then violoncello with Bogdana Peneva, soloist of the Philharmonic of Russe. She graduated in 1995, in her city, and moved to Vienna in 1996 where she studied at the University Für Musik und Darstellende Kunst of Vienna, with Valentin Erben. In 1994 she won the first prize of the National Swetoslaw Obretenov Competition, in Bulgaria. She participated at the " Johannes Brahms, for violoncello" contest in Austria, as well as for the "Gradus ad Parnassum" in Innsbruck, Austria. She improved her studies with teachers such as Miklos Pereny (Budapest), David Geringas (Berlin) and Mstislaw Rostropovich (Vienna). She has already developed an intense career as a soloist performing in concerts with orchestras from: Philharmonischen Orchester Russe, Wiener Festwochen in the Konzerthaus of Vienna, in the Hong Kong City Hall of Hong Kong. Chamber music concerts in Italy with David Geringas, performing and recording in the ORF of Vienna in the “Nations Kaleidoscope” Festival framework. She carried out several premieres of chamber music together with the Yehudi Menuhin "Live Music Now" Organization. During 2002 she performed in Munich the whole Suites series for cello of J. S. Bach. She recorded for the prestigious record company "Naxos". She has a scholarship from the “Herbert Von Karajan Centrum" and also from Thyll-Dürr Fundation in Switzerland. Teodora Miteva plays with a Honore Derasay violoncello, Paris, 1860.



CHRISTINE MARIA HÖLLER
Violin

Christine Maria-Höller was born in Bischofshofen, Salzburg, in 1978 and began playing violin at the age of seven.  By her tenth birthday, she had already been accepted as a junior student at the Mozarteum University of Music and Dramatic Arts, where she received her first violin lessons from Prof. Erika Lösch from 1989-1993. 

Afterwards she continued her studies at the Mozarteum, with Prof. Dr. Helmut Zehetmair, and in 1997 she completed her orchestra studies with enormous success.

In June 2000, she passed the orchestra diploma with unanimous distinction as well.  In addition to this, she received the acknowledgement award from the Minister of Education, Science, and Culture for her outstanding accomplishments.  Since October 2000, she has finished a post-graduate program with Prof. Lukas Hagan at the Mozarteum.  Her education was further rounded off with master courses by other professors, including: Shmuel Ashkenazy, Rony Rogoff, Igor Ozim, Ljerko Spiller, Michael Frischenschlager, Dimitri Sitkovetsky, Leonidas Kavakos, Stefan Picard, and Giles Apap. The young violinist has already been awarded numerous prizes and honors through her participation in national and international contests such as 1st prizes for youth performance “Jugend musiziert”, and the International Violin Contest in Gorizia, Italy.

Her solo appearances, as well as additional awards for brilliant performance (the Altensteig/Germany concerts and receiving the Christa Richter Steiner award from the Mozarteum), reveal the full extent of her recognized artistic abilities. During the 2000-2003 concert season, Christine-Maria Höller performed countless solo evenings with the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra Dortmund, the Youth Philharmonic Salzburg and the "Capella Istropolitana" orchestra.  Her chamber music partners are: Salzburg Musici and Concertino Salzburg. She has already played a wide spectrum of music literature together with numerous pianists, including Rico Gulda, Luca Monti, Irma Kliautzaite, Gerda Guttenberg and Noriko Shiozaki.   The highlights of her artistic life were performances during the Salzburg Culture Days in October 2001, the 2002 Mozart Pentecost Festival in Istanbul, the Music Festival in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in July 2002, the Munich Celibidache Festival  in October 2002 and the "Young Artists" concert series hosted by the International Mozarteum Foundation. In autumn 2003 she performed with the Salzburg Mozarteum orchestra Mozart´s  violin concert in G-major and  the Bruch – violin concert  with the Philharmonic Orchestra Dortmund in the Festival Hall of Salzburg.



LUIS LUGO
Pianist

He has studied for eleven years with Mercedes Esteves, Cesar López, and Silvio Rodríguez Cárdenas in the “Conservatorio de Música Amadeo Roldan de la Habana”, where he received an honor diploma and the national piano award. During these years Lugo was also attending classes at the “Instituto Superior de Música de la Habana” with the prestigious Russian pianist, Valery Kamichov.

Lugo obtained a bachelor in music and a master in Fine Arts at the “Conservatorio Tchaikovsky” of Moscú. He realized master studies of aesthetic in the “Superior de Arte de la Habana” and cinema history in the “Universidad de La Habana”.

For his artistic merits he became member of  the “Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba”.

Lugo has been invited to the “Festival Internacional Gran Fiesta of the Royal Festival Hall” (London), “Festival Latinoamericano in Villa Gessell”(Buenos Aires), Festival Internacional del Grek (Barcelona). He has been jury memeber at the first “Festival Nacional de Arte Lírico” in La Habana and at the fifth “Festival Internacional and Music Contest” in the Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires).

His concert “Luis Lugo piano de Cuba” was declared by the  “Secretaría de Cultura de la Nación Argentina” as a cultural interest.

He also coordinated and realized an international cycle: “The piano: “ reflex of the social human evolution”, five scheduled dates at the 6th “Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires” in the Teatro Colón.

STRINGS QUARTET OF VIENNA
BETTINA HORVATH
Violin

She was born in Vienna in 1979. She began her violin lessons when she was 6 years old. With 9 years she was accepted at the Graz Art and Music University. She was winner of several international prizes. She performed with: Junge Philharmonie Wien, the Quintet Swinging Strings. She has an intense career as a member of several Chamber groups in Austria.

KARIN HUMER
Violin

She was born in Linz, Austria in 1980 and began her violin lessons when she was 6 years old. She was awarded in the violin class at the Art and Music University of Vienna under the guidance of Jacqueline Roscheck-Morard. She performed with the Jugendsinfonieorchester of Oberösterreich (Austria) at the Budapest Music Festival and played as well with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra directed by Sandor Vegh and Yehudi Menuhin.

JOHANN RATSCHAN
Viola

He was born in 1980 in Grieskirchen, Oberösterreich (Austria). When he was 5 years old he began with his violin lessons and changed to the viola at 14. He was awared at the Art and Music University of Vienna in the class of Jacqueline Roscheck and Siegfried Führlinger. He is a member of various symphonic orchestras such as the Wiener Jeunesse Orchester, Jugendsinfonieorchester Oberösterreich and the Akademische Symphonieorchester of Vienna.

RAIMUND SEIDL
Cello

He was born in 1979 in Linz, Austria and began with his lessons at the age of 10 years at the Conservatory of Linz in the class of Michael Dallinger. In 1999 he entered to the Art and Music University of Vienna where he studied with Elisabeth Meissl-Pfefferkorn, Jiri Bunata and José Arias. As a soloist and member of chamber music groups, he participated in international seminars and performed with: Fine Arts Quartet, Casals-Quartet, St. Petersburg-Quartet, etc.
